Choosing the clinic for aesthetic interventions is a personal and responsible issue

More than half of the patients surveyed said they chose a clinic because they saw good results from a friend who was already there.

Choosing the clinic for aesthetic interventions is a personal and responsible issue

The decision to go to the beautician is an intimate and personal matter. While this may be based on various reasons, some of which are well-founded, such as anatomical defects, unpleasant native features, aging, etc., other reasons are sometimes considered unfounded. In such cases, only the patient is the one who gives his consent and expressly requests certain interventions. As in any profession, the doctor may or may not accept them.

Once the decision has been made whether or not to perform an operation with aesthetic consequences, of course, the question arises as to who should do it, which doctor, which clinic to choose. At the moment, there is a wide range of options, both in the country and abroad. The future patients can choose the famous clinics from the nearby countries, where the flow of Romanian patients is increasing, or, they can turn to the most well-known clinics and doctors in Romania. “Of course, the most invasive procedures are most often done in the city where you live. Minimally invasive cosmetic medicine has developed enough in recent years that the patient can easily choose her doctor or clinic close to where she lives. It is true that before making this decision, the patient must first carefully study the history of the clinic and its credibility in the market. Luxury and interior design will not necessarily make a difference, but it certainly matters, because aesthetic medicine is still an exclusive branch and not everyone accesses it. It is not a mass industry and it will not become so in Romania in the coming years. So certainly, when you go to do minimally invasive cosmetic procedures in a sad and awkward office, you have to ask yourself more questions beforehand “, said Simona Chițac, founder and manager of the Legacy Med clinic.

As with real estate, location matters. “There are many patients who come to us to be corrected, following procedures performed in so-called clinics, in cosmetic clinics or worse, in some block of flats. Just because a friend was there and the result was wow… I, as a woman, would think first of all about the bacteriological environment that can exist in such a space. We also have at the end of the Consent Form signed by each patient questions that help us a lot in the way we communicate or make our marketing decisions. Thus, over 50% of the answers tell us that they chose our clinic after talking with a friend who is already our patient. The remaining 50% have answers divided between various communication channels: from the Internet (Facebook, Instagram), from the posts of a VIP who recommends us, etc”.

“Each communication channel we have to patients generates a certain patient profile. Certainly the most informed patient in our case is people over 35 and with stable incomes above average to high. Young women tend to be influenced by friends who suggest where to go based on their results, without taking into account the many factors that should be involved in such decisions”.

For example, an extremely important thing, sometimes ignored by patients, is the source of the products used in the case of minimally invasive procedures. “We are not talking here about the shelf life of products used in the case of injections or other minimally invasive procedures, although this is also extremely important. We are talking more about their source, the origin of these products. As long as the original authorized products from official distributors are considered medical devices and need special authorization to be marketed, I would wonder if the person I go to could have access to such a system, or should buy some produced in less credible ways. The big suppliers of original and authentic products do not end up selling the products piece by piece. Sites that can sell such products are not well controlled by the authorities to establish their certification. So certainly, the spread of fakes is easier through those who buy injectable products or other consumables per piece. That’s why, as a patient, you always have to weigh the decision to be a patient in a clinic. We also had patients who wanted to come with their own product to be injected by our doctors. The right decision is to reject the patient in such situations, if it is not known exactly or if the authenticity of the product cannot be verified. The complications that can occur over time as a result of a counterfeit product are multiple and no doctor should knowingly assume them. “.

Another aspect that needs to be calculated very carefully is the far too advantageous offers. “When you start to see obscure clinics or on the contrary, very large clinics, with offers – shock, you have to think about what exactly such a decision generated for them. Because no clinic manager can afford losses just to win the patient. And then, if the manager does not want to lose, what causes him to lower the price well below average? Will the product to be used expire soon? Is it counterfeit and will he gets rid of it as soon as possible? Is the product to be used of questionable quality and very cheap to purchase? Here it is like any other industry, and the rational consumer should ask himself some questions before falling into the trap of offers that are far too advantageous for him”, continued Simona Chițac, Legacy Med Clinic.

How can the patient ensure the intervention for the future? ¢First of all, the patient must ensure that he receives proof of the procedure performed, with date, quantity, with product sticker. We at Legacy Med have so-called Beauty Passports that are handed out to each patient, which contain absolutely all the information about the procedure. We also have the history of each patient, but it is good that the patient keeps it and always returns with it at each visit. ¢

“As a final piece of advice for future patients, I would also focus a lot on the credibility conveyed by the team where I am going to leave my budgets… I am a woman and I always take these details into account in everything I do. Is the clinic worth trusting or not? Could the staff or people in the management do things to earn more, to my detriment as a patient? After all, this medical business, as in most areas, is a business of trust. Respect for the patient will always win. And it applies very well here People will forget what you said, they will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”
