Use anti-aging products and procedures on time

to enjoy optimal results

We all want to enjoy smooth, young and fresh skin, but when we have it, due to age, we don’t take care of it properly. And this habit later leads to much harder “fights” with the aging process and skin regeneration.

Use anti-aging products and procedures on time to enjoy optimal results

12.4% of people use anti-aging products only after 45 years

A survey by McCabes Pharmacy found that a third of people who currently use anti-aging skin care products did not start until the age of 45 or older. Most anti-aging products are preventative and recommended for use starting at age 21 to effectively and significantly reduce the signs of aging on the skin.

Telltale signs such as nasolabial folds, eye and forehead wrinkles tend to appear when people are in their 30s and 40s. However, one in eight (12.4%) people said they only started using these products between the ages of 45 and 54, while 19.4% said they didn’t start the process until after the age of 55 years.

Lisa Byrne, Chief Pharmacist at McCabes Pharmacy, said: “If wrinkles have already set in, you can’t turn back time without cosmetic surgery. But you can prevent wrinkles and rejuvenate your skin with products that contain effective ingredients and suit your skin type.”

Not everyone is putting it off this long, with almost half of respondents saying they started their skin care routine before the age of 35, and a quarter of those starting at 24.

How can you keep your skin young, regardless of age?

“To stimulate the production of collagen, which is responsible for the structure and elasticity of the skin, use products containing retinol, also known as vitamin A. This helps to brighten the skin, smooth wrinkles that have already formed and prevent the formation or deepening of existing wrinkles” – said Lisa.

Nutritionist and health and balanced life coach Angela Foster points out that good anti-aging products with high levels of peptides, vitamin C and vitamin E – along with vitamin A can also help boost collagen production and to fade the appearance of wrinkles. Because, once formed, an improper routine will not only not bear fruit, but can even affect the skin and lead to a dehydrated, tired, aged appearance.

“Using micro-needling / dermapen aesthetic procedures on the skin can help improve product penetration and stimulate collagen production. Sun protection is also very important after micro-needling therapy” – said Angela, founder of My DNA Edge.

The importance of SPF in maintaining a youthful and healthy appearance

SPF or sun protection helps prevent the harmful effects that the sun’s rays have on the skin. Here we are talking about sunburns, pigment spots or even skin cancer, which is the main cause of improper exposure to the sun.

According to research, 90% of skin aging is caused by sun exposure. Despite the myths that sunscreen is only necessary in the summer, many skin care experts recommend applying it every day, even in cold weather or when it’s cloudy outside. While UVB rays burn the skin, UVA rays age the skin, and they are present all year round, not just in the summer.

In addition to cosmetic products or facial treatments, aesthetic procedures are at your disposal when you want to maintain or achieve a rejuvenated appearance. Although there are a lot of myths that we run into when it comes to aesthetic medicine, over time it has proven its effectiveness, offering patients who seek this type of service both a visibly improved appearance and a plus of self-confidence.
